Hopefully you’ve seen all the Charlie Brown TV Specials, which first aired in the 1960s. One of my favorites is the Halloween Special with the Great Pumpkin. Linus believes that on Halloween night the Great Pumpkin rises from the pumpkin patch bringing candy and toys to all the good boys and girls. Instead of trick-or-treating with Charlie, Lucy and the gang, Linus decides to wait in the pumpkin patch. As you would expect, Linus gets lots of abuse for his beliefs. Lucy thinks her little brother is a nut for believing in the Great Pumpkin. He later tells Charlie Brown “There are three things I’ve learned never to discuss with people: religion, politics and the Great Pumpkin.” Are you a Linus? How passionate are you about your organization…your dream…your beliefs? Just like when you’re discussing religion, politics and the Great Pumpkin, there’ll be times when you’re ridiculed but don’t give up. Linus never did – and he got Sally to join him in the pumpkin patch.
